So many projects, so little time...

I made this chalkboard for our front hall.  The board is made from sheet metal painted with chalkboard paint.  The frame is moulding with corner pieces.

This growth chart is made from a 1x8 piece of pre-primed mdf.  I measured and drew lines and added lettering and vinyl numbers with my handy dandy Silhouette machine.  I then cut green vinyl for the stem and added wall sticker flowers and insects that I found at Dollar Tree.  Every six months, we mark each child in their own color with the date.
I bought a Scrabble game at DI for a couple of bucks and decided to make this artwork to hang in our game room in the basement.  I glued the tiles to the board and made a frame from moulding to fit.  Unfortunately, the corners did not match well this time for some reason, so I found some thin wood squares at WalMart.  I printed scrabble letters from the internet, Modge Podged them to the squares with a quick topcoat and then glued them to the corners of the frame.  I think it turned out fun!

Latest projects

I have completed quite a few projects lately and have many in the works!
Here is a project that I have been working on since January.  I found some dressers and night stands on KSL.com that were just right for the boys' room.  They had remodeled the Marriott in Park City and a man bought the furniture to resell.  They were a golden colored pine and had holes drilled into the top where the T.V.s were mounted, but otherwise good sturdy solid wood pieces.
I sanded and sanded and sanded and sanded....
Then filled holes and dings, and finally painted them.  Three coats of primer paint some distressing and a little stain on the distressed areas (because I knew our two boys would do some distressing of their own) got them looking pretty good.  Then two coats of polyurethane finished them off.
Here are the finished dressers.  (Sorry, I never seem to remember to take before pictures.)

If you look closely, you will notice the red one is missing a knob.  I know I painted and finished it but when I went to get them and put them on, one was missing.  I keep waiting for it to show up but I guess I will have to get a new one.  *Sigh*
The boys really like them and it sure beats trying to cram all of their clothes into one dresser!  I figure I spent about a third of what I would have spent to buy them at a furniture store and I got to choose the style and color I wanted.

My latest projects

I've done a bit of sewing lately and gotten some fun results. These are super fun skirts that don't even need a pattern and I made them for about $3 each.
Aren't they the cutest models even with their after church hair?
The patchwork took more time and I don't know if I would do one again but it turned out cute.
I also made some accessories with ideas from these links:
Rosette tutorial and snaps

The girls really like their new clothes and it was fun to make them but I think I'm done for a little while. As much as I like the things I made, I don't love sewing!

I am linking this to Made by You Monday, All Thingz Related, Tatertots and Jello, and Works for me Wednesday.
