We have a wonderful little fairy that visits us on road trips. She has an irridescent rainbow dress, violet hair, beautiful wings that fly fast enough to keep up with us on our trip, can be invisible when she wants (Mom has only seen her once), and of course a magic wand! She purchases and wraps small gifts (usually dollar store items) that can be played with or occupy children in the car. Each child's gifts are wrapped in a specific paper so they know which are for them. When we stop for a rest, every couple of hours or so, the kids can search the car to see if the Road Trip Fairy visited. This keeps our children occupied and surprises that are ongoing. It also cuts down on the "are we there yet?" and "He's touching me!"

I love your good ideas! This idea brought back pleasant memories from my childhood. Like the treasure hunts my Dad would do for me on my birthday, or the songs my family would sing together while traveling for vacation.
You guys are awesome!
You are the QUEEN of ingenious ideas...you're such a great Mommy! :) Okay you will get a chuckle about this, but I just got the application for Spectrum in the mail today for Megan...they must have not received the memo that we are in Alabama now? How funny is that~ :) Hope all is well..yes we've made some friends and I've become quite the social director for our neighborhood...imagine that! :) Love ya! Give your family our love~
Oh, I'm so glad you stopped by my blog. Yours is beautiful and full of fun ideas! I think I have to add HyperDash to our list.
For us, many roadtrips are "Mystery Rides." It started when my kids were little and things would change quickly (due to unexpected naps, dirty diapers, or similarly-aged playmates cancelling something while we were en route). If the boys didn't know where we were going, they weren't upset when the destination changed. And as they got older, it got to be a good guessing game.
There's an excellent chance of a 9 hour roadtrip in our future, though, so I might need to see if the Road Trip Fairy makes visits out where we live, too! Blessings to you this holiday season!
Great tip! Thanks for stopping by my blog.
